People, evidence
and practical experience.

A specialist practice for the technical and commercial work behind environmental projects.

We work with developers and organisations from early feasibility and methodology selection through project documentation, certification support and credit procurement. Each engagement starts with the activity, the available evidence and the decisions that need to be made.

Our work brings together project advisory, carbon accounting, research and development, with specialist input from our advisors and partners.

Aríel Jóhann Kessler Árnason

Founder · Project advisory

Aríel Jóhann Kessler Árnason

Johann founded Súrefni to connect environmental activities with the technical evidence and commercial structures needed to develop credible climate projects. His work spans forest carbon, electric mobility and plastic circularity, bringing together project development, sustainability consulting and certified-credit services.

He works directly with project owners to define the opportunity, assess the relevant methodology and coordinate the documentation and supporting evidence. His role connects the technical work with the practical decisions: what the project needs to demonstrate, how the records fit together and what is required for the next stage of independent review.

Johann also brings a business and innovation perspective to the practice’s research and development work. He coordinates specialist contributions and client relationships, with an emphasis on clear scope, usable deliverables and consistent project records. His development of tailored AI workflows and reporting tools supports that same focus on depth, efficiency and professional judgement.

Rafael Moya Escudero

Carbon accounting · Project development

Rafael Moya Escudero

Rafael is an environmental engineer, carbon-accounting and sustainability specialist whose project experience includes projects in electric mobility, nature-based solutions, forestry and plastics. He contributes to the technical work that connects a project’s activity with its documented environmental outcome.

His work includes developing project documentation, reviewing methodology requirements and examining the assumptions behind carbon calculations. He helps organise supporting evidence, assess emissions and leakage considerations, and maintain consistency between the calculations, technical narrative and project records.

Rafa brings detailed technical attention to project development and review. He helps turn complex requirements into structured documentation and clear responses to technical questions. His contribution supports a practical objective: project owners should understand the evidence behind a claim and the work still needed to support it.

Specialist expertise with advanced AI

Deeper analysis.
Efficient delivery.

We use state-of-the-art AI tools as part of our professional service. The advantage comes from understanding how to configure, guide and review them for the work at hand.

Our purpose-built workflows combine technical expertise with structured research, evidence review and reporting. They reduce repetitive processing and delivery costs, making detailed, personalised advisory more accessible.

The tools support a direct working relationship and careful handling of project information. We remain responsible for the advice, the quality of the work and the experience of the client.

01

Specialised for the work

Our AI workflows are configured around carbon and plastic methodologies, technical documentation, research and reporting. We give the tools a defined task, relevant source material and a structured way to work.

02

Personal to your project

Each engagement has its own objectives, evidence, assumptions and deliverables. We adapt the workflow to that context, so the research and reporting address the decisions your organisation actually needs to make.

03

Traceable data, considered sharing

We distinguish source information from AI-generated interpretation, preserve the underlying records and make assumptions visible. The use of sensitive information and any sharing are scoped to the agreed engagement.

04

Professional review

AI helps research, organise and draft; our team reviews the evidence, calculations and conclusions. You work directly with the people responsible for the engagement, with clear explanations and usable deliverables.
