The May 2024 announcement reported that Ísorka completed the certification process for its carbon credits at the end of March. The project used Verra methodology VM0038 to assess how installation, operation and use of EV charging infrastructure reduced fossil fuel use.

The article described this as a milestone for Iceland and reported Ísorka as the first European charging company to offer active certified units through this route. Ísorka’s records and traceability dating from 2016 were highlighted as important to the process.

The announcement gave an estimated impact of around 37,500 tonnes of CO₂ per year and 375,000 tonnes across 2021–2030. These figures were projections in the announcement, not a reported volume of issued credits.

Surefni was described as the consultancy that oversaw the certification process and handled sales. Verkís, BL, Pipar/TBWA and Hertz were named as early purchasers. The article included a photograph of representatives at the purchase agreement signing and directed readers to Ísorka’s website and the Verra Registry record.
