Hringrásarskógurinn · Forestry project · Iceland

A long-term forestry collaboration in Iceland.

Hringrásarskógurinn forms part of Surefni’s early forestry project experience. Developed with Hringrás and the Icelandic Forestry Service, the initiative connects corporate climate objectives with the practical work of establishing a forest in southern Iceland.

The project.

The Hringrás forestry initiative is an afforestation project in southern Iceland. Its planting design combined birch, black cottonwood and Sitka spruce, with a long-term approach to forest establishment. The initiative brought together a corporate partner and forestry expertise around a land-based climate project.

Our role.

Surefni helped develop the initiative with Hringrás and the Icelandic Forestry Service. The collaboration connected the organisation’s climate objectives with the practical development of a tailored forestry project, bringing the relevant partners and planning work into a defined engagement.

A project-specific approach.

Forestry work requires attention to its location, planting design and time horizon. The project account links these practical elements with the planning of a carbon project. For Surefni, the engagement is part of our experience translating an organisation’s objectives into a defined project, with the relevant partners and documentation brought into the discussion.

From organisational goals to project work.

Hringrásarskógurinn illustrates the relationship between corporate climate advisory and project development. The organisation’s objectives provide the context; the forestry activity provides the project itself. Our role is to help connect the two through a clear scope and sustained coordination. This project sits within our wider forestry experience alongside current forest carbon development work.
